Monica Wright, 48, Dies in Multi-Vehicle Crash Near Shaw AFB in Sumter County



 Early Sunday morning, a tragic multi-vehicle collision in South Carolina claimed the life of 48-year-old Monica Wright, as reported by the Sumter County Coroner’s Office. Wright, a resident of Columbia, was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident, which occurred around 2 a.m. at the intersection of U.S. 378/Broad Street and S.C. 261/South Kings Highway, near Shaw Air Force Base. According to Coroner Robbie Baker, Wright succumbed to injuries sustained during the crash with another vehicle.


The coroner's office did not specify whether Wright was a driver or a passenger, or if she was wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident. Additionally, it was not disclosed whether there were other injuries, but Wright was the only fatality reported. The circumstances leading to the collision remain unclear, and the cause of the crash is still under investigation by the South Carolina Highway Patrol and the coroner’s office.
