The Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office has identified three individuals who perished from carbon monoxide poisoning at Saguaro Lake in Mesa over the weekend. The victims were named as Amanda Elderkin, 35, her husband Jason Elderkin, 41, and Julieanne Afman, 57, who was Amanda's mother.
The incident unfolded on a Saturday afternoon when deputies were alerted to an emergency at a marina where three people were found unresponsive in a houseboat. Upon arrival, authorities discovered a generator was running inside the vessel, which is believed to have been the source of the lethal carbon monoxide gas.
