The state of Alaska is mourning the loss of Dane Ferguson, a highly respected humanitarian and leader in the snowmobile community. Ferguson, who was the President of the Alaska Sno-X Lions Club, died in a tragic accident, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, generosity, and dedication to helping those in need.
Ferguson was a well-known figure in the Anchorage snowmobile community, where he had a profound impact on the lives of many young people. As the President of the Alaska Sno-X Lions Club, he was instrumental in teaching snowmachine safety to young riders, and his passion for the sport was contagious. Many of the young people he mentored looked up to him as a role model, and his sudden death has left them shocked and saddened.
Cale Voos, a friend of Ferguson's, took to Facebook to pay tribute to the beloved humanitarian. "The snowmobile community and the world lost a truly amazing man," Voos wrote. "Rest in peace, Dane Ferguson. You will always be loved and remembered." Voos went on to share a personal anecdote about Ferguson, recalling the advice and guidance he had received from him. "Your time and the advice given truly meant the world to me," Voos said.
Ferguson's impact extended far beyond the snowmobile community, however. He was also a dedicated humanitarian who had traveled to Ukraine to provide aid to those affected by the war with Russia. Ferguson had initially worked with the Lions Clubs International's anti-human trafficking unit, but he soon began providing medical supplies, food, and evacuation services to those in need.
Michael Beane, a resident of Meadow Lakes, Alaska, remembered Ferguson's positive influence on his life. "RIP Dane Ferguson," Beane wrote. "You were a role model to us local valley kids and gave us motivation to start riding seriously, to have it take us places, and supported Nine07Racing from the very beginning."
Ferguson is survived by his wife, Katie, and their two children, Kenzie and Brody. His family, friends, and community are still reeling from the news of his sudden passing, and tributes have been pouring in from all over the state.
