Three people, including a child, were killed and seven others injured in a shooting at Abundant Life Christian School in Madison

 


Madison, WI** – A tragic shooting at Abundant Life Christian School on Monday morning has left three people dead, including a child, and seven others injured, according to authorities. Madison Police Chief Shon Barnes confirmed that the suspect shooter is among the deceased. The incident occurred at the nondenominational Christian school, which serves approximately 390 students from kindergarten through high school.


The Madison Police Department (MPD) received a report of an active shooter at the school located on East Buckeye Road around 11:00 a.m. Upon arrival, officers found multiple victims and confirmed the situation as active with several injuries. By 11:30 a.m., MPD updated the public via Facebook, advising them to avoid the area while law enforcement secured the scene.


Authorities, including agents from the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF), have blocked off roads surrounding the school to assist with the ongoing investigation. MPD has stated that more information will be released as it becomes available, emphasizing the need for people to stay clear of the vicinity to ensure the safety of first responders and maintain the integrity of the investigation.


Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers expressed his condolences and support in a statement, saying, “We are praying for the kids, educators, and entire Abundant Life school community as we await more information. We are grateful for the first responders who are working quickly to respond.”


The school community, which emphasizes faith-based education, is deeply shaken by the events. Emergency services have designated the SSM Health/Dean Clinic on Stoughton Road as the reunification site for families. Parents and guardians have been directed to this location to reunite with their children.
