Auburn Party Turns Violent: Three Stabbed and Shot, Teen Suspect Arrested

Early this morning, just after 3:20 a.m., Auburn Police Department officers were dispatched to a distressing scene at 45 Smith Street where a violent altercation had unfolded, involving both stabbing and gunfire. When they arrived, they found three male victims—two adults and one juvenile—each in dire medical conditions. Two of the victims had been shot, while the third had suffered stab wounds.

The victims were quickly attended to by emergency medical services from the Auburn Fire Department and were rushed to Central Maine Medical Center. There, they were reported to be in serious but stable condition, indicating a hopeful outlook for their recovery despite the severity of their injuries.

The incident reportedly stemmed from a party at the residence where the mood shifted from celebration to chaos. According to initial police investigations, a dispute among partygoers escalated into violence. At the center of this chaos was Chase Snow, an 18-year-old Auburn resident, who has been named as the primary suspect. Snow allegedly initiated the attack, stabbing one victim before turning to a firearm and shooting the other two.

Following the incident, Snow was arrested at the scene. He faces multiple charges including Elevated Aggravated Assault, Aggravated Assault, Reckless Conduct, and Aggravated Reckless Conduct, reflecting the gravity of the act committed. He is currently detained at Androscoggin County Jail, held without bail, as he awaits his initial court appearance.

In addition to Snow, Daniel Day, 19, and his mother Wendy Day, 57, who hosted the party at their home, have also been implicated. They are facing charges for Furnishing a Place for Minors to Consume Alcohol, a decision that underscores the legal responsibilities of adults hosting events where minors are present.

The investigation, led by the Auburn Police Department in conjunction with the Maine State Police Major Crimes Unit, remains open. Support during the response was also provided by the Lewiston Police Department and the Androscoggin County Sheriff’s Office, highlighting the collaborative effort required in such severe cases.

As the investigation progresses, authorities have not ruled out the possibility of further charges being filed. The police are actively seeking additional information from the public, urging anyone with knowledge of the incident to come forward to aid in piecing together the events of that night.

This incident serves as a somber reminder of how quickly conflicts can escalate, particularly in environments where alcohol and youthful exuberance mix. It also highlights the legal ramifications for those who fail to manage such gatherings responsibly. The community of Auburn, while shaken by this violent episode, is left to reflect on the measures necessary to prevent such tragedies in the future, ensuring the safety of all its residents.
