Child Safely Recovered, Suspect Arrested After Amber Alert in Florence, SC

In a significant update from Florence, South Carolina, authorities have successfully located a one-year-old child named Dylan Saige Cooper, who was the subject of an Amber Alert issued earlier this morning. The suspect in the abduction, identified as 32-year-old Macie Eaddy, is now in custody. This resolution brings relief to the community and the child's family, following a tense and urgent search that captured widespread attention.

The ordeal began when Dylan's mother, Lindsey Britt, reported to the Florence Police Department (FPD) around 8:53 pm on January 2, 2025. According to Britt, she and Eaddy had gone shopping together at H&Y Beauty and Roses on South Irby Street at approximately 5:45 pm. Eaddy, at around 6:00 pm, decided to wait outside with the baby, asking Britt if she should take Dylan to the car. Britt agreed, not anticipating the turn of events that would follow. Upon finishing her shopping, Britt found that both Eaddy and Dylan had left the premises, prompting her immediate call to the police.

The Amber Alert was swiftly activated, spreading the news across the state. The alert described Eaddy as a 5'5" woman with brown hair and brown eyes, weighing about 140 pounds, last seen in army green pants, a black sweatshirt, and pink shoes. She was believed to be driving a white 2012 Mitsubishi Lancer with a South Carolina temporary tag XWR0804H. This information was crucial in mobilizing the public's assistance in locating the vehicle and the child.

The Florence Police Department, in collaboration with the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) and several other agencies, initiated an intensive search operation. The community's response was immediate and supportive, with many residents and onlookers sharing the alert on social media platforms, potentially aiding in the swift resolution of the case.

Dylan Saige Cooper, born on October 26, 2023, was described by her family as a vibrant toddler with blonde hair, blue eyes, and a distinctive dimple on her left cheek. The successful recovery of Dylan underscores the effectiveness of the Amber Alert system, which is designed to galvanize community action in cases of child abduction.

While the specifics of Dylan's recovery and Eaddy's capture remain under wraps as the investigation continues, the Florence Police Department assured that further details would be released in due course. The focus now shifts to understanding the motives behind the abduction and ensuring Dylan's well-being post-incident.

This event has once again highlighted the critical role of community vigilance and the effectiveness of law enforcement coordination in responding to emergencies. It also serves as a poignant reminder of the importance of the Amber Alert system in safeguarding our most vulnerable. The relief felt by Dylan's family is palpable, and the community breathes a collective sigh of relief knowing she is safe. As we await more information, the story of Dylan's safe return will hopefully continue to be a testament to the potential for good when community, media, and law enforcement work hand in hand.
