"Mahopac Woman, 62, Fatally Struck in Head-On Collision Near New York Border"

 


On a somber Monday night, tragedy struck along Ball Pond Road in New Fairfield, Connecticut, when a head-on collision claimed the life of 62-year-old Diane K. Staab from Mahopac, New York. The incident unfolded around 9:30 p.m. near the intersection with Harvest Road, close to the New York state line, highlighting the dangers of this particular stretch of road.


Diane Staab was driving her 2017 Jeep Compass southbound when her vehicle inexplicably veered into the path of a northbound 2024 Hyundai Palisade, resulting in a devastating crash. Emergency services from New Fairfield responded promptly to the scene, but despite their efforts, Staab was pronounced dead at the location of the accident. 


The occupants of the Hyundai, including the driver and two passengers, all from New Fairfield, were fortunate to escape with non-life-threatening injuries. They were admitted to Danbury Hospital for treatment, where they are expected to recover.
