Jamarco Dye Obituary, Death – A Bowling Green man has been arrested and charged after a teenager was fatally shot at an apartment complex early Sunday morning.
According to the Bowling Green Police Department, officers responded to a report of gunfire in the 100 block of Audley Avenue shortly after 1:45 a.m. on Sunday, Jan. 26. Upon arrival, authorities discovered 16-year-old Jamarco Dye dead in the backyard of the complex, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
The suspect, 22-year-old Tylan J. Barnett, told detectives that he went to the apartment complex after his sister contacted him on Saturday evening, Jan. 25. She reportedly believed someone had attempted to break into her residence earlier that night. Barnett claimed he saw two individuals outside the apartment and assumed they were the same people involved in the earlier incident. He said he armed himself with a gun, observed one person fleeing from the back of the building, and fired multiple shots at a second individual who was also running away.
Police say Barnett admitted to discarding the firearm in a brush line near the apartment complex. He was subsequently arrested and charged with murder and tampering with physical evidence. Barnett is currently being held at the Warren County Regional Jail.
