Pedestrian Killed by Fleeing Suspect and Police Vehicle in Orlando Chase

 


A tragic incident unfolded in Orlando on Wednesday night when a pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle fleeing from police. The Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) confirmed that the victim was a 56-year-old man from Orlando.


Incident Details

The fatal crash occurred shortly after 7 p.m. at the intersection of Rio Grande Avenue and Indiana Street. Authorities reported that a vehicle heading south on Rio Grande Avenue was attempting to evade Orlando police when the driver lost control.


The suspect’s vehicle, which was operating without headlights or taillights, made a sharp turn before veering off the road. It then struck the pedestrian, who had been walking along the shoulder.


In a tragic turn of events, an unmarked police truck pursuing the suspect also hit the victim, according to FHP.


Suspect Apprehended

Following the collision, the driver fled the scene on foot. However, officers were able to locate and arrest him. The suspect has been identified as 30-year-old Dornell Bargnare of Orlando.


Authorities have not yet released details on the specific charges Bargnare is facing. WESH 2 has reached out to the Orlando Police Department for further information.
