Four children have been found safe and reunited with the Department of Family and Children Services (DFACS) after a dramatic incident earlier today in South Fulton, Georgia. Their mother, Vanessa Carr, is now in custody and faces multiple charges including kidnapping.
According to police, the ordeal began around 11:15 a.m. at Welcome Park (also referred to as Welcome All Park). Carr was supposed to meet with her children under supervision but unexpectedly fled with them in an unconfirmed vehicle. The children — Genesis Carr (4), Jahdim Carr (2), Vincent Carr (11 months), and Jaxon Harrell (9) — were under the care of DFACS at the time.
Authorities say Carr was seen wearing a burgundy sweatshirt and gray sweatpants when she left the park. Because investigators did not have reliable information about the vehicle she used, they did not issue an AMBER Alert.
Later in the day, law enforcement located Carr and the children at a Greyhound bus station in Atlanta, where she was arrested without reported incident. The children were immediately returned to DFACS custody.
At this time, Carr is being charged with four counts of kidnapping, and police say additional charges may follow as the investigation continues. The exact circumstances that led to her sudden decision to flee are still unclear, and authorities are working to piece together her motives and any potential accomplices or support she may have had.
The community around Welcome Park was shaken. Authorities noted the area was particularly busy due to the city’s “Yeet Fest,” which drew more people to the park than usual. For residents and passersby, the sudden disappearance and reappearance of the family has raised many questions and concerns.
This case remains under active investigation. Police are asking anyone with additional information — sightings of Carr or her vehicle, or unusual behavior around the time of the incident — to contact South Fulton authorities immediately.
