Salem, West Virginia — Fifteen-year-old Skyla White has not been seen since January 10, 2026, and her family, friends, and local authorities are growing increasingly worried as days pass. What began as a routine morning in Harrison County has turned into a heart-wrenching search for a bright young life that suddenly slipped out of sight.
Skyla was last spotted in the Salem area of Harrison County just over a week ago, according to the Harrison County Sheriff’s Office. Law enforcement has labeled the case a missing juvenile, and while early reports included the possibility she may be a runaway, there’s still no clear information about where she might be now or what led to her disappearance.
Friends describe Skyla as a lively teen with green eyes and black hair. Deputies say she stands about 5 feet 3 inches tall and weighs about 120 pounds. A small but distinct scar above her right eye makes her easier to identify. On the day she was last seen, she was wearing a black hoodie, a black windbreaker jacket and a blue and gold West Virginia beanie.
Harrison County Sheriff Robert Matheny II has been urging residents not to let this case fade from memory. In a recent statement, he said that while social media has sparked a lot of attention and shares, the sheriff’s office has only a few leads — and at least one reported sighting that turned out to be false. He stressed that even small tips from the public could make a difference in finding Skyla.
Officials have entered her information into the national missing persons database, meaning any law enforcement agency in the country that runs her name should immediately be alerted. That step is crucial because it widens the circle of eyes that might spot her, whether she’s in town or far away.
Family and law enforcement are asking everyone in Harrison County and beyond to keep Skyla’s photo, name, and description in mind. Memories of tiny details — a familiar face in a crowd, a voice on a phone call, or a car seen late at night — can suddenly become the clue that brings a missing person home.
Anyone who has any information, no matter how small, is urged to contact the Harrison County Sheriff’s Office at (304) 423-7700 or call 911 immediately. Awareness and quick community action remain the best hope in reuniting Skyla with her family.
