NATCHITOCHES, Louisiana Girl Camille Mims Remembered for Her Bright Spirit by School and Community

NATCHITOCHES, Louisiana — Tears and warm memories fill the hearts of families, classmates, and teachers after the sudden passing of Camille Mims, a beloved fourth-grade student at St. Mary’s Catholic School. The community is gathering around the Mims family in grief and solidarity, keeping her gentle presence alive in stories and prayers.

Camille was a cheerful young student known for her bright smile, eager curiosity, and kindness to peers. Teachers describe her as a joyful spirit who lit up the classroom each day, ready to learn and quick to share gentle words with others. Her classmates remember her as not just a student, but a friend — someone who cared deeply and made their school days sweeter simply by being there.

St. Mary’s Catholic School, rooted in faith and fellowship, released a heartfelt message urging prayers for Camille’s family, her classmates, and teachers as they navigate this painful loss. The school community has been leaning on one another, finding comfort in shared faith and collective remembrance. Support from clergy, counselors, and school staff has been constant, especially for young students grappling with loss for the first time.

In the hallways and at prayer gatherings, simple yet touching gestures of love have emerged: classmates have shared handwritten notes, spoken prayers aloud, and paused for quiet reflection in her memory. These gestures echo the impact Camille had in a life far too brief — a reminder that even short lives leave lasting marks on those around them.

The Mims family has been wrapped in an outpouring of compassion from the greater Natchitoches community and beyond. Messages of support, acts of kindness, and prayers continue to stream in, giving the family strength amid an unimaginable sorrow. Many have found solace in their faith, trusting that Camille is now held in God’s peaceful embrace.

To help honor Camille’s memory and support her family during this difficult time, a Camille Mims Love Fund has been established. Donations can be made at any City Bank location or sent by mail to:
