MACON: Family Deaths After Eviction Notice Turn Fatal in Ridgeview Circle Shooting

On a quiet Tuesday morning in the Ridgeview Circle area of Macon, what was supposed to be a routine eviction turned into a heartbreak that left three people dead. Deputies with the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office arrived just after 10:15 a.m. to serve an eviction notice at a home in the 1100 block of Ridgeview Circle. As a civil deputy approached the front door, loud gunshots came from inside. He retreated and called for more officers.

Within minutes, backup arrived along with specialized units. For more than an hour, emergency crews tried to contact anyone inside. No one answered the door. Around midday, a SWAT team forced their way into the house. Inside, they found two women, later identified as 49-year-old Brande Summers and 21-year-old Haliegh Summers, both unresponsive from gunshot wounds. A third person, 51-year-old Ray Summers, was found with a serious, self-inflicted wound.

Medical teams rushed Ray to a hospital, but he died from his injuries just before late afternoon. Bibb County officials later confirmed that Brande and Haliegh were his wife and daughter. Authorities also found two family pets inside the home that had died.

Neighbors described a tense scene as sirens and law enforcement vehicles poured into the community. Ridgeview Circle, usually calm, became the center of a somber police investigation that stretched into the evening. Detectives with the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office continue to gather evidence and piece together exactly what led to the sudden violence.

Local officials offered few details beyond confirming names and the broad outline of events. They urged anyone with information about the incident to come forward. Family members of the victims have not yet spoken publicly about the tragedy, and authorities have not announced a motive. The case remains under active investigation as the community tries to come to terms with how a day meant to enforce a court order ended in a family’s death.
